AGE 6 1/2 (1999)

The tunic was made of a heavy "upholstery" fabric. The pants were made out of some old thrifted curtains. The wraps were made of a cotton fabric that had speckles in it, dyed and torn into strips. I found some tan suede shoes at a thrift store (already dirty!)
The helmet is a heavily modified "Don Post" helmet. I gave it a completely new paint job, using a technique of painting each panel silver then dabbing rubber cement onto the areas where i wanted the "chips" to be. Once the cement was dry I painted each panel the correct color then picked the cement off giving it a very realistic chipped effect. I also made a new leather hood and leather eye pieces. I even went so far as to grind off the fake rivets and put in real ones. After all this was done, I gave it a good wash of watered down black acrylic paint.
