What is Embroidery?

Decorative stitching on fabric. Generally involves non-lettering designs, but can also include lettering and/or monograms. Evolved from hand embroidery, to simple one-head manual sewing machines, Schiffli machines with hundreds of needles, to high-speed multi-head machines. Evidence of embroidery exists during the reign of Egyptian pharaohs, in the writings of Homer, from the Crusaders to the 20th century.

What is Digitizing?

Digitizing is the process of converting artwork into a digital code that can be read by today's advanced embroidery machines. The digital image file of your logo or emblem that you send us is a starting point, but the "digitized" logo that we create will be in a format that only embroidery machines can use. This digital code provides the instructions to the embroidery machine's operating system which, in turn, tells the embroidery machine's frame how to sew the design.

Do I have to pay a Digitizing charge?

No, there are no charges for digitizing your artwork. Our prices are ALL-Inclusive, meaning the quote you get is the price you pay.

How much is the cost for Custom Embroidery?

Pricing is based on size of logo, complexity of design, number of different colors in the design and how many pieces you are embroidering with the exact same design and thread colors. A hat logo or standard left chest logo has between 8-10K stitches. Items that weigh less like t shirts and polos take less stitches than a sweatshirt or jacket. What is your minimum order?

24 pieces of the SAME design & size.

Can I combine Styles and Sizes?

Yes, you can. You can combine Sweatshirts, Jackets, Polos, and other wearable apparel. Any headwear, caps, beanies will be considered a separate order with a minimum of 24 pieces.

Can I combine shirts and caps to reach the 24 piece minimum order?

Since Caps and other headwear must be embroidered on a different type of frame, you cannot combine caps with other apparel to reach the 24 piece minimum required to place an order.

What is the maximum size I can make my custom logo?

For caps, 2.25" tall and 4" wide

For Visors, 1" to 1.25" tall and 4" wide

For Shirts, left breast, 3" to 3.75" wide

Square Logos, 1.5" to 2" on a side**

Circular Logos, 2" to 2.5" in diameter**

Full Back or Front Logos (we only recommend putting them on materials no lighter than a sweatshirt) up to 11" x 11"

**If your project requires large, dense embroidery over 10,000 stitches, please select heavyweight fabrics with an ounce weight higher than 7 ounces OR fabrics with tight weaves including denim, double pique, oxford cloth, cotton canvas, poplin, twill, wool, flannel, fleece or microfiber. If your design is over 10,000 stitches, we will provide you with a custom quote.

Do you offer 3D embroidery on caps?

Yes, the price is an additional $2.00 per item.

Do you offer Tackle Twill Applique?

Yes, price is determined on size of applique.

How many colors of thread can I have in my custom logo?

You can have up to 8 thread colors.

Do you match (PMS) Pantone Colors to thread colors?

If you have a Pantone color for your logo, we will match your logo color the best we can. Embroidery threads have a sheen that is unique and it's virtually impossible to match them to colors on paper.

Do you embroider patches?

No, sorry. Patches require different setups and equipment that we don't currently have.

What is your typical or standard turnaround time?

Standard turn-around time for embroidery is ten (10) business days once the final art files have been approved. If a shorter time period than seven business days for production is required, a rush charge will be added.

Do you do Rush orders?

Yes, we do. If order is needed less than ten (10) business days a rush fee may be charged.

Do you offer Stock Embroidery Designs?

Yes, we do. Look through thousands of ready made at embroidery.com or DakotaCollectibles.com. Prices vary per design.

Helpful Definition of cap styles:

Low Profile: A cap style with a low slope that is more closely fitted to the head. Can be either structured or unstructured.
Mid Profile: A cap with a slope height in between that of a High Profile and Low Profile. It is most often structured with buckram.
Structured: A cap style with a lined front consisting of buckram, a stiff fabric, that controls the slope of the cap.
Unstructured: A low profile cap style with a natural low sloping crown. No buckram has been added to the crown.
